grades secondary: to college:
Hypothesis:
- a lobe-finned lungfish crawls out to eat plants,
- but needs legs (lobe-fins) to walk on beach
- and needs lungs to breathe air
- these new animals are Amphibians,
- class Amphibia, phylum Chordata
- but not until the Devonian (400-350 Myr BP)
Or ... maybe they migrated onto land
to eat the insects that were already there
2nd Hypothesis:
- beach (mud flat)
Silurian (440-400Myr BP)
- covered by plants Rhynia & Cooksonia,
- crayfish-like creature (similar to sowbug) crawls out to eat plants
- class Crustacea (subclass Isopoda), phylum Arthropoda
- Silurian (440-400 Myr BP)
- mutates to become a cockroach-like creature
- class Insecta, phylum Arthropoda
- also during the Silurian (440-400 Myr BP)
