EXERCISE 16
Exercise [adapted from the text, Nutrition Up Close box, pg. 14-7)].
- Estimating blood alcohol is similar
to the types of calculations you will have to do when you take your pharmacology course. It
involves algebra, and I realize you did not expect to ever actually do algebra after High School,
but “Oh, well.” Beer and wine often have fine-print disclosure on the label stating the
alcohol content as percent by volume. You can also find the alcohol content of most beers (by
brand) at www.alcoholcontents.com; the site also gives alcohol content for wine by variety.
Select two of your (or some other person's) favorite beers or wines, and compare their alcohol
content.
